Week 1 – The Stamp Spot Creative Team Challenge

February 2020 Creative Journal

Week 1 Theme – The Number 9

Each week, Michelle has set the team a challenge – the first week is focussed around the Number 9. This celebrates 9 years The Stamp Spot has been in business – what a great way to start the challenge!

If you’ve not heard of The Stamp Spot check out this link. This is where you’ll see the exclusive Pocket Page Notebook – they’re like Travellers Notebook but have a plastic pocket. You’ll have see me use these for the past few years as I LOVE THEM! You can store souvenirs in them, embellish them. In fact, why not stick around and each week I’ll share with you my layouts from the 12 week challenge to get you some inspiration for yours πŸ™‚

Creative Journal

For 2020 I’ve decided to keep a Creative Journal. This was inspired by Krystal Becker who is doing a weekly one, and posting each week on her YouTube channel. I didn’t think I’d have enough content to do weekly, or time! so have decided to do an End of Month Summary. I decided to use the Pocket Page Notebook for this as it has 12 pocket pages in. This is perfect for any year long challenge you’d be thinking of doing. Some examples might be One Little Word, or a tracker for each month, such as weight loss, book’s read, TV/Movies watched – I’ve used these topics in the past in these books πŸ™‚

The layout I’m sharing with you today is for my February 2020 recap. I am going to use the Month 6×4 layouts I have in my Craft Room in a picture frame throughout the month for the start of each month, as you can see here.

My Layout Process

I used distress ink [worn lipstick] to blend the paper background before adding my typed journal note.

For the pocket page itself, I’ve included my Top Nine Instagram Likes and Reach for the month of Feb. I printed on photos and adhered them back to back. At the bottom I’ve added some sequins to an acetate sheet so they would remain in place and be visible on both sides of the pocket.

For the back page, I used [cracked pistachio] distress ink to blend the background paper. I then added more journalling notes focussing on Goals for Next Month as well as achievements and Highlights for that month.

I finished off with a few embellishments scattered around the pages.

I’ll be doing a similar format each month in this Pocket Page Notebook. I’m hoping it will help me consider goals to achieve, as well as reflect on achievements too.

How did I do?

In terms of the theme for the month – using my Top 9 Instagram posts seemed a perfect fit for the journal. Having the plastic pocket really helped to minimise space needed to add two large photos, and ensure I’m keeping one spread per month.
